Low-Dose CT (LDCT) initiative

Capital Imaging Associates’, teams of radiologists and technologists have been working with Siemens’ technical specialists and an independent radiation physicist to develop a way to get highly detailed images of your lungs using an extremely low dose of radiation. A LOW DOSE Screening Lung CT at Capital imaging uses as little radiation as a Chest X-ray.

Why have a screening CT?

This test can detect tumors at a very early stage and could reduce lung cancer deaths by 20 percent compared to chest x-ray screenings as determined by the National Cancer Institute's National Lung Screening Trial (NLST)

Who should have a screening CT?

If you are a current or former smoker between 50 and 80 years old you should discuss your healthcare concern with your healthcare provider. He or she can best determine if this would be helpful for you and can order the examination.

How long is the exam?

Actual time on the CT table is about 2minutes.

When/where can I get this exam?

Capital Imaging Associates is conveniently located on route 9 in Latham. CT studies are scheduled weekdays between 7:45 AM and 3:15 PM with Saturday morning appointments available as well.
